Suggest Remedy For Pain After Swallowing Dry Food

I am feeling pain after swallowing dry food (not slimy food). The is slight and remains about an hour after I have the food and is releived by taking water. The pain is in the middle of my back region. I am haveing this occassionally and for the last one month. Is there a possiblility that I am having cancer in my food pipe? I am 45 and a smoker.
