Suggest Remedy For Pain And Infection In Ear

My daughter has had a cold for the past 5 days with fever ranging between 100 & 102 degress. I took her to the doctor today and no ear infection was detected however hours lter she began feeling sharp pain in her ear. She was prescribed antipyrine benzocayne. When applying a second dose the to ear the cotton ball that covered her ear was pinkish in color. Is this normal? Could she be bleeding from her ear due to the infection?
