Suggest Remedy For Pain And Swelling In Knee Cap

I have a 2 year old son who is complaining about his knee hurting and is obviously in pain because he is limping.He says it hurts "inside" . We took him to urgent care and xrays only showed mild swelling around knee cap on both sides. We are ondering what we can do to relieve the pain and reduce the swelling. If you look at his knee you cant see swelling. I have heard stories of legs pains being something more serious and just want to make sure it s not.
