Suggest Remedy For Pain In Leg With Orthopedic Plate And Screw

I had a metal plate and screws put in leg. In 1999. The pain comes and goes. Sometimes weather change an strenuous work or excise. Irritates the are. Sometimes it comes on from what seems is nothing. It feels like pinching under skin. Other times its a pain in bone. On occasion it tightens up an causes pain which affects my ability to walk. Sometimes its all the above at same time. So annoying I wanna tear open skin and pry the plate from bone. When younger I d get similar problems yet not so acute. My doc said orriginally it was up to me to have removed. Should I have it removed?? 16yrs. Later???
