Suggest Remedy For Peeling Fungal Skin Infections On Foot

i have peeling skin on one foot. Athletes foot spray does not seem to work. i regularly put vaseline on and that seems to help temporarily. but every month or so...all the skin starts to get peely on the bottom of my foot. is this some kind of fungus. should i buy some kind of medicinal cream or ointment. it's only on one foot and not the other.
