I'm a 56 yr old male and often have times when my heart skips beats. I can remember calling a doctor about this when I was not yet 30. I can usually feel my heart flutter and I often feel like I have to cough. When I check my pulse I can count 5,5, skip; 4,4,skip; 3,3,skip; 2,2,skip; 1,1, skip then repeats. I have experienced this for many years although only on certain occasions that sometimes last for a couple of weeks. I completed my doctorate, and it seemed that every January during block classes I would notice this. Some times I thought it may have been the much greater amount of coffee I drank during those classes. It is the same time of year, but I am no longer in class as I have completed my degree. I'm in otherwise good health as far as I know, as I've not been to a doctor except for injuries and a melanoma surgery in 1997. (I have been a missionary on small islands in the South Pacific and run my own emergency clinic for years.) Thanks, Mike
