Suggest Remedy For Red Rashes On Butt

my son was jumping about crying last nite, saying his bum was tickling and id got to scratch it, it just looked red. i applied germolene, then sat him in the bath with salt water, he was still crying .this morn hes ok, but worried it will start again. i feel so helpless.
