Suggest Remedy For Scarring On Left Arm

I have some scarring on my left arm caused my self harm and I am really self conscious about it. The wounds are fully healed and are now just very red and noticable. I have been rubbing bleach into the scarred area and it is now all very, very read and inflamed and hurts a lot. Am I at risk of poisoning myself or is it okay to proceed?
