Suggest Remedy For Separated Shoulder And Cracked Ribs

My father fell 7 days ago on the ice. He is 69 years old so decided to visit the ER to get checked out. They found separated shoulder (left) and a cracked rib. He doesn t like pain medication, but had to take some to get any sleep. He cannot be in the prone position to sleep even yet. The medication caused some constipation so he took some muscilix. He has since stopped taking either medications. Now he is complaining of a bloated stomach and loss of appetite. His stomach is very distended. Is there something other than diet regulation that we should do for him?
