Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain In Leg

My mother went to the doc 4 days ago. She had pain radiating down her left thigh (Pain only stops when she lays down). She was diagnosed with a kidney infection that had spread. She also had bursitis in her right shoulder. She was treated with a cortisteriod shot in her shoulder and Cipro for the kidney infection. My question is this, after 4 days should we not see improvement? The pain in her leg is as bad today as it was on Thursday.
