I got very sick a few weeks ago with a bad sinus infection, fever and really achy joints. They sent me away and told me I would be better in a few days. Well, the next day I was going to the bathroom and it kind of burned. I never experienced that before and thought now I must be getting a UTI too. When I went home later on, it hurt down there so I looked and saw what looked like a canker sore on the inside lip of my vagina. I immediately went to the emergency room, because I was really nervous. I have been with the same man for 2 1/2 years and don t know where this would come from. The ER doctor said that he never saw a herpes sore that looked like that and that it looked more like something he saw on a woman with hand, foot & mouth disease, but she had them on her hands and feet so it was obvious that was what hers was. They did a culture on the ulcer and told me to call my doctors office for the results. They wouldn t give me them over the phone and I don t have the appt until next week. I needed to know so I got a copy of the lab report and all it said was herpes culture: not isolated (1) . Does the number 1 indicate that herpes 1 was not isolated and herpes 2 is? I don t understand why it doesn t say anything about herpes 2? Or if the (1) means anything at all. If you could please help me, I would really appreciate it. I m very scared and this has been seriously stressing me out. Thank you!
