Suggest Remedy For Skin Colored Mole In Upper Chest

Hello and thank you for taking time to answer my question. My boyfriend is 24 and he has a lot of moles on his body, some of them rather large, but none of them have caused him any problems so far. Recently, a small mole on his upper chest, which was slightly raised and skin-colored with a tiny black dot in one corner, changed. Now the entire mole is dark, it has gotten flatter, and is starting to peel slightly. Now, he hardly ever spends any time in the sun and the area where the mole is, is always covered up. We have made an appointment with a dermatologist, but can't go for another two weeks. My question is: If this is skin cancer, does it sound more like it could be a basal cell carcinoma or a melanoma?
