Suggest Remedy For Slippage Of Vertebrae

My L5 has moved forward away from the rest of my spine. Primary Dr. says no bending, no twisting,no lifting and standing for short periods until I see spine dr. Waiting on a call for appt woth spine dr. Is there any treatment other than traction or surgery to fix this problem. The back of L5 has passed thr front of L4.
