Suggest Remedy For Swollen And Red Hands With Soreness

My son is 16. He showed me his hands today and they are slightly swollen and red. He said it feels soar to make a fist. The skin is always dry between thumb and forefinger and he chews or picks at the area. He doesn't use lotion until I make him and he doesn't wears gloves out in the cold
