Suggest Remedy To Alleviate The Pain In Eye Caused Due To Dog S Scratch

I was playing with my dog two days ago when he hit/scratched my left eye. I started getting some discomfort right away, but about an hour later the pain got very bad. I went upstairs and flushed my eye with drops. No change. I noticed a irritated area in my sclera on the left side of my cornea. Since then i can barely open my eye without pain, i also have sensitivity to any light source. Should i cover my eye until i can see my doctor? Anything i can do to make the pain go away? What could have happened and what could i be looking at in terms of injuries? My eyes are extremely important to what i do, as i am a competitive shooter by trade.
