Suggest Remedy To Severe Cough

i started with a bad cold the 2nd of december which am over the worst of now tho cannot get rid of this cough, my doctor prescribed amoxillan on a 5 day course which ive done 3 days of so far yet the cough has not eased any, my chest is clear and am starting to fear the worst, what can it be?
