Hello Dr. Bienenfeld, I am a 33 year old male. I was diagnosed with adhd in 9th grade and prescribed ritalin. It worked well and after a year I quit taking it. Then my freshman year in college i was prescribe adderrall xr, it to worked well. I discontinued taking that when I was discontinued from my mother s insurance due to my age. Since then i have tried many natural ways to help my lack of attention. My mother is a therapist and believes in many homeopathic remedies. Some seem to have some positive results, and I was hoping to continue these methods until i outgrew the adhd. Last summer i was promoted to senior consultant and acquired many time sensitive tasks. I been struggling now more with the adhd then i have before. My fiance and I are expecting our first child in July and I am concerned with my job mediocre job performance. She has urged me to start the adderrall xr again. Yet i am reluctant in hopes that i will outgrow the adhd. I was under the impression it was a teenager/young adult disorder. My main concern is being able to continue in my position and provide for my new family. Is there an average age which adhd goes away in males?
