I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005, after a year and a half of unsuccessful pregnancy attempts. At that time, I had very irregular cycles, ranging from 26 days to 48 days, but always a 7 day period. Infact my periods have been 7 days since I began having a menstrual cycle, when I was 14 years old; always very heavy bleeding for days 1-4, needing to change an extra super absorbancy tampon every 1-2 hours, days 5-7 very scant bleeding, regular to light tampons every 6-8 hours. I am 27 years old, and for the last 4 months, my cycles have been 28 days every time! However, I am now having cycles that last 10-12 days, very bad cramping, which was never an issue before this, blood clots golf-ball sized, and the bleeding is even heavier. I now need to used ultra absorbancy tampons every 1-2 hours for days 1-5, scant bleeding days 6-7, very heavy again from days 8-10 to 12. I'm not on any medications, and haven't changed my eating or exercise habits. Wondering what could be going on, and whether this warrants a trip to my GYN before my yearly check-up.
