Suggest Treatment For A Painful Lump In Pubic Area

I have a hard lump above my vagina (where my pubic hair grows). It is under the skin so you cannot see it but you can feel it. It's approx. half an inch long and is painful when touched. I don't think it is an ingrown hair as I have had these before so know what they look like. Please help!
