Suggest Treatment For Acute Ulcerative Colitis

I am 52 years old and was hospitalized 8/2013. Temporary diagnosis given: acute ulcerative colitis. I still haven t gotten a colonoscopy yet, due to no health insurance. The hospitialist on duty when discharged said that he thought I may have Crohn s, but needed colonoscopy to confirm. Anyway, I have noticed that every time I eat I get terribly bloated to the point where I am uncomfortable. Is this a symptom of colitis/Crohns? Thanks!
