Suggest Treatment For Alopecia Areata

I have alopecia areata and had very bad hair loss for atleast a year this is my second time that ive had this im 13 yrs old and now i have little round spots of new hair growing back all around my head. but my hair is very brittle and thin; how long will it take my new hair to grow back and why is it so thin?
