Suggest Treatment For Amputation Of Finger

Hey, Thank you for taking the time to read this.
First off a couple of weeks ago I was cleaning and inspecting some fire arms of mine and due to me not paying attention I discharged a round that went straight through my left hand pinky shattering my middle phalanx into pieces. I was rushed to the ER and had stitches done. I have been going to a plastic surgeon who has given me a couple of choices, one leading to multiple surgeries leading to saving my pinky but being unusable and always in the way (I wouldn't be able to bend it). And the other to Amputating it. I work at a place that requires me to operating heavy machinery and sometimes fixing the engines or other components. I want to get my finger amputated. What do I have to look forward to. Will I have to be sedated? Will it be a come in get it done and im out back at home a couple hours later? can i be concious through the procedure?
Once again thank you for reading this and hope to hear a answer.
Sincerely Chaz
