Suggest Treatment For Back Pain And Pain Under The Arm

Hi my mother has cardiovascular problems and had op 18 months ago which involved a thin plastic tube being inserted from her collar bone to top of leg. She has not experienced any problems until the last 2weeks when she has felt a high level of pain in her back, side and under her arm. Pain killers not working, but she will attend appt next week at hospital with consultant. My worry is that it is something very serious and I should be taking more urgent action
