Suggest Treatment For Bowel Incontinence In A Child

My son is 7years old and soils his pants first we went to the doctor and doctor has prescribed him a laxative. its been a couple months and he continues to do it now he says that its too soft and cant hold it in. I have looked at his soiled clothes and it looks normal. what should I do?
