Suggest Treatment For Brown Spots On Head And Ear

I just noticed 2 brown spots on my son's head. One on the back of his head and one near his right ear. Both are under his hair. They are larger than freckles and don't seem to be raised. They almost appear to be darker on the outer edge. Any ideas? He just returned from a camping trip. Could he have been bitten by something?
