Suggest Treatment For Bruise And Swelling In My Leg

I am 58years old, female, 5'7", approx 160 lbs. And in relatively good health with no chronic co -mo I'd diagnoses. Recently fell and suffered a knee laceration requiring 12 stitches. No evidence of fracture on X-ray. I was released home and provided a knee sleeve to keep me from bending my knee. However, knee remains bruised and swollen and I have noticed pain in addition to the stitches. What orthopedic concerns do I need to watch out for once the stitces have been removed and the scar has healed
