Suggest Treatment For Bursitis On The Right Knee

I have what I believe is bursitis of the right knee again. It has a little bulge on the left lateral side, and the tissue feels mushy, and tenderness when I palpate it. Before it was diagnosed as pateller bursitis. Is it effective to take Ibuprophen 600 mg TID to get the level of it at a even level, rather than take it when the knee begins to be painful? I am going to Central America in 4 weeks, and need some relief before I go.
