Suggest Treatment For Clustered Spots On The Back With Occasional Itching

My husband has about 12 spots starting at the top of his rear end and they run up the small of his back kind of clustered. He said they itch occasionally and are somewhat painful. He has one on his upper ear too. They look the size of pimples. I noticed about 3 weeks ago and at that time they just looked similar to petechia(sp)? He is 36 yrs old 6'0 tall about 175# always been healthy.
