Suggest Treatment For Constant Pain In Shoulder

I have pain in my shoulder at the rotator cuff and my dr. said that the x-ray shows some calcification form like toothpaste is in there. I am in a whole lot of pain. is taking a cortisone shot the only solution to this problem?I have tried ice packs and aleve to help with the inflammation and it only eases the pain a little.
