Suggest Treatment For Cough, Cold And Wheezing

Hi My dad has something wrong with his lungs. He is seeing a specialist soon. He uses the steam shower a lot and right now he has a cold that comes with a very bad cough and causes wheezing and crackling sounds when breathing. He wakes up not being able to breath and the inhaler does not work so he goes to the ER. Should he be using a steam shower. I have said no because it will clear you up but then leaves a cool mist in your lungs and I find the cough get worse when you use the steam shower. What do you think? thank you Gwen
