Suggest Treatment For Coughing Fits And Viral Infection

I have had some sort of virus for the past week or so and have now entered the coughing phase I suppose. So I keep having these coughing fits and they are deep coughs that are kind of exhausting and I just started another coughing fit and ended up having a pretty bad nosebleed, should I be concerned? I m sure it is nothing but my mom is concerned the coughing might turn into bronchitis or pneumonia.
