Suggest Treatment For Decreased Hearing

I had a stepdectomy in both ears in 1991 via laser surgery. Due to nerve damage our hope was stabilizing my hearing rather than gaining increased hearing. I used hearing aids about 15 years ago for maybe 5 years. recently I had another hearing test that showed decreased hearing from last test. My audiologist suggest I consult with a physician with this specialty before fitting me with hearing aide.
how often is a stepdectomy repeated and what is the success rate? is there new technology in the last 25 years!
Michigan Ear Institute performed the surgery many years ago.
thank you very much!
Sincerely, mimi wheeler
