Suggest Treatment For Dry Purple Lines On Knuckle Of Toe

My "pointer" toe. The toe next to my big toe has had a dry red/purple line across the top knuckle for over a year. Every time I shower a layer of skin can be sloughed off and it stays purple. I've tried over the counter anti fungal to no avail. It does not hurt nor itch. I'm just a girl who wants pretty feet! What could this be?
