Suggest Treatment For Edema In Legs

My friend, a 78 year old male has edema in his legs with on and off leaking fluid from one leg. His primary physician is stumped and is going to send him for different tests to rule things out.My friend is worried it may have something to do with his heart, because he had a valve replaced years ago.
