Suggest Treatment For Excruciating Pain In Hip And Knee

Hello I am convinced I have a vertical Patella fracture as a result of falling hard onto my right knee. I am still able to walk and bend my knee - but certainly can’t kneel. I can feel the fracture line with my finger and there is daily movement each side of the fracture. Sometimes it rejoins almost seamlessly. Sometimes it almost rejoins but the right side may be at a slightly lower level or even slightly angled in towards the knee. Some days I can just feel a gap between the two pieces. I have had X-rays (including skyline) and an MRI but nothing shows up and was refused a CT scan as they didn’t wish to subject me to further X-rays. Unfortunately I have arthritis, spondylitis. I have tried to just ignore the fracture and just ‘get on with it’ but it interferes with my ‘get mobile morning regime’, many of my daily activities and I believe it to be causing me or exacerbating painful hip problems and muscle problems. It’s now about 8 years since the fall. It took about 4.5 years and many requests for a doctor to actually feel something was wrong and agree to send me for the X-rays etc. Can you please let me know if there are any other methods of diagnosis I could push for that may help resolve this? Also, after this length of time, is there any treatment that may still be effective? If it helps, I’ve just turned 59 years. With many thanks for your assistance. AH.
