Suggest Treatment For Haemorrhoids Post Delivery

hello I am a 20 year old female who gave birth to twins 5 months ago. i have had a bad case of hemorrhoids ever since. they are bleeding every time i use the bathroom and are also clotting. it almost looks like i have had my period after i use the bathroom. i have made an appointment with my local doctor. what should i expect him to do about it? a nurse i talked to said something about surgry. should i be concerned?
