Suggest Treatment For Herniated Disc In Cervical Spine

Hi! I have 4 herniated discs in my cervical spine that are pressing against my spinal cord. My doctor is currently treating with meds and injections. He has also ordered an adjustable neck brace to strengthen muscles in my neck. If this does not work, he is suggesting that I possibly have surgery to get rods in my neck. Should I request another MRI since mine was done over 5 years ago and secondly should I get a second opinion? I have only been seeing this doctor for two weeks and don t really know anything about him. I also have DDD and bone spurs along with a few other minor issues in cervical, thoratic and lumbar regions.
