Suggest Treatment For Infected Cut On Thumb Causing Pain

Recently I got an avulsion cut on my thumb. I went to the doctor and got treated. It's been almost two weeks, is it normal for my thumb to be swollen and the wound to be occasionally pussy? Also I experience a lot of burning sensation through my thumb. I keep it covered with antibiotic ointment and a band aid during the day for school and work purposes otherwise I have it uncovered with ointment. Wondering how long it will take to heal and if it's healing properly. I can move my thumb but I can't bend it
