Suggest Treatment For Infection On Cochlear Implant

A few months ago, my niece had her cochlear implant removed (right ear) because of serious infection at Mass. Eye and Ear. She is now having another infection in her left ear and is in a panic. Born deaf and is living in N.Y. ...has been Face Timing me and asking me what to do. The Dr. In N.Y. can't see her until Feb.20th. She went to anoth Dr. today and is on antibiotics, but her left is is extremely itchy. I told her to also take cotton and soak her ear with warm water and vinegar daily. Was that okay for me to do? She lives 6 hrs. away from me in Mass. I just want to help her. She has a hearing husband and 2 young kids. I only know a little sign language, but she can also read my lips.
