Suggest Treatment For Inflammatory Arthritis

My husband has a very inflamatory arthritis --a doctor put him on diclofenac for 2m0m. he now has NO PAIN --BUT--both of his parents ,cousins and other family have died from heart condition eg. heart atacks ,hardenind arteries ,----should he keep taking this drug ??? I am concerned ,as his wife He has been on this for 3wks. now--he has tried naproxen but it really bothered his stomach .
