Suggest Treatment For Itching On Tailbone Area

Im a 40 yeat old male with intense itching at my tailbone area. It has been off and on for a few years. There is no rash or has there ever been, but I itch until its red and has scratches. What could this be and what can I use to treat the itching. Thanks
