Suggest Treatment For Itchy Painful Hemorrhoids

I am literally tearing up the skin around my anus due to hemorrhoids. I have what I would describe as skin tags that "come and go" with a varying degree of: itching, pain and moisture they produce. For some reason the last three weeks they have been persistent - waking me up at night and absolutley ruining my quality of life. What can be done? These started 6 years ago when I had my first baby, and I am fed up - a 37 year old female should NOT be dealing with this. Lidocaine - Gold Bond Powder - is this seriously what my life has come to?? Not to mention - those over the counter solutions don't work great, and they seem to be only a temporary fix. I want these REMOVED - what can be done to stop things temporarily and long term? We've come a long way medically, why has progress not been made with curing/fixing hemorrhoids?
