Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain

I had a level 2 fusion in2010 and havent had any problems with my back since until the past month i have this awful pain in the lower back where i had surgery ,if i am lying down it is very hard to get up,i can t walk very far,my mouth has been dry when i put on shoes and socks i have to pull my leg up to put them on.The doctor just gives me muscle relaxers and pain meds,i really would rather find out what is wrong instead of taking pills What do you think might b e wrong?
