Suggest Treatment For Muscle Pull And Slight Swelling On Side

I hurt my side eight days ago by lifting a 75 lb machine and turning with it. It is still swollen on the left side is this normal. I went to a err today but I don't really trust her call and besides that she was just a nurse. She told me I had just pulled a muscle and I'm iterating it so it's inflamed. Please as we help me
