Suggest Treatment For Night Cough And Itchy Throat

My mom had a nocturnal cough and also in early morning. she states to feel an itchy throat first and feels like gagging so she goes to the restroom to vomit. she does has slight asthma and im not sure if that has anything to do with it. any answers? it been about a month now and its irritating to hear her each night vomiting.
