Suggest Treatment For Pain And Dark Spot On The Foot

I was at the emergency room last night for pain in my left foot, when the results came back, they said there is a dark spot on one of my toes, but didn t explain what. They told me to make a follow up asap with my primary Dr. What could it possibly be. They mentioned it looked possibly like a hole, but couldn t make out what it was.
