Suggest Treatment For Pain And Stiffness In Stomach Muscles

My bariatric surgeon upon examining me noticed that when I sat up from a prone position that only the muscles in the above my stomach contracted to cause me to sit up... she referred to this with a scientific phrase I was unfamiliar with. She went on to say that means your stomach muscles are shot . I am wondering what the correct name is for this condition and whether it is reversible with exercises.
