Suggest Treatment For Painful And Swollen Knee While Having Osteoporosis And Osteoarthritis

I have sevier knee pain and swelling I have both austeophorosis and austoarthritis the pain becomes overwelliming im 53 and don't like taking pills for pain but its getting to the point I have no choice my question is do I have the choice to have my knees done as im told is my only option or is their nything I can do to mke this tolerable with out srg
