Suggest Treatment For Painful Shingles

Hi, I have had Shingles x2 in the past both with rashes. Have terrible pain now resembling shingle pain but have no rash. Was given Acyclovir 400mg, take 2 tabs 5x day for a week. Am finishing up meds today but, the pain is still present 24x7 with no let-up. Taking Aleve PRN with no relief. How is Shingles diagnosed if there s no eruptions.....Can a Shingles titer be done to verify diagnosis? This pain has been present for 10 days...How long does it usually last....Thanks
