Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough And Chest Congestion In An Infant

My son is one month old, he caught chest congestion and persistent cough. My doctor has advised for 4 drops of Maxtra twice daily for 2 days and report back in case of no improvement. He told that next course of action would be to take pump for de-congestion. Pls advise if the medicine prescribed and further course would not harm my child and also is there any alternative to get cure.
